PERTAMINA in conducting business activities in the field of energy and petrochemicals, is divided into two sectors, namely upstream and downstream, and supported by the activities of Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures.
Pertamina Upstream business activities include exploration and production of oil, gas, and geothermal. For exploration and production of oil and gas is done in some parts of Indonesia as well as abroad. Exploitation in the country is done by Pertamina Hulu and through collaboration with partners while for exploitation abroad conducted through strategic alliances with partners. In contrast with business activities in the field of oil and gas, exploration and production of geothermal is still done in the country. To support its core activities, Pertamina Hulu also has a business in the field of oil and gas drilling.
The exploration activities intended to obtain discovery of new oil and gas reserves as a substitute for hydrocarbons has been produced. These efforts are made to keep the continuity of oil and gas production can be maintained.
Exploration and production activities conducted through its own operations and the concept of partnership with third parties. The pattern of partnerships in the fields of oil and gas in the form of JOB-EOR (Joint Operating Body for Enhanced Oil Recovery), JOB-PSC (Joint Operating Body for Production Sharing Contract), TAC (Technical Assistance Contract), BOB (Joint Operating Entity), the participation form IP (Indonesian Participation) and PPI (Pertamina Participating Interest), as well as project loans; while the geothermal sector JOC (Joint Operating Contract).
Exploitation of oil and gas through its own operations carried out in seven (7) Regional Operations Upstream (DOH).
